Israel practices a new 'form of fascism' in Gaza and the US is unable to control it, former leader says
Israel practices a new "form of fascism" in its attacks on Gaza and its ally, the US, is unable to control it any longer, Cuba's former president Fidel Castro said in a column published Tuesday in Cuba's official online paper Granma.
"I think a new and disgusting form of fascism is an emerging force in this watershed moment in human history," 87-year-old Castro claimed in an article entitled "The Palestinian Holocaust in Gaza."
Castro stressed that the genocide of the Nazis against the Jews has been condemned by all peoples of the Earth. Why then, he wondered, "does the government of that country (Israel) thinks that now the world will be insensitive to this gruesome genocide being committed today against the Palestinian people?"
"Are we expected to ignore the US's complicity in this shameless slaughter?" Castro added.
Castro went on to say that the events that are taking place in the Middle East today "reflect the almost total inability of the US to address the current problems of the world."
"We can safely say that the neither the US administration, nor the Senate, nor the Congress, nor the CIA, nor the Pentagon are able to determine the final outcome," the communist politician stressed, adding that other world powers are currently gaining strength in the world, mainly Russia and China.
Castro retired for health reasons in 2008 after 49 years as leader of communist Cuba, which was a close ally of the former Soviet Union during the Cold War.
